Avoid dyeing your hair if it falls into excess, if the scalp is attacked by eczema or if you suffer from asthma.

Be aware that some hair dyes contain lead salts and used repeatedly may cause complications such as blackening the teeth, anemia and headache. Also, some studies have shown that the mixture of chemicals in hair dyes can harm the liver.

To be dyed, hair must be in good condition to avoid any inconvenience.

There are in the market several types of hair dyes from which you can choose:

- Semi-permanent hair dye. It may be in powder or cream. It should be mixed with a solution of about 5% hydrogen peroxide. It lasts on hair up to 6 weeks after the hair returns to its original color.

- Permanent hair dye. It is found in powder, cream or gel. It should be mixed with a solution of 20% hydrogen peroxide to form a cream that is applied to the hair. It lasts until a new hair grows. It discolors hair and adds color. Using it for long-term it destroys the hair cuticle, making it brittle.

- Henna dye. It is made from vegetable leaves of a shrub (Lawsonia inermis) which is grown in the Near East and Egypt. It is used since antiquity to dye hair, nails, skin and textiles. Natural henna gives the hair reddish-brown color. There is also black henna which is a combination of pure henna and a substance extracted from some plants that grow in tropical regions. Black Henna can trigger allergic reactions.

If you dye your hair, only use shampoos with neutral PH.
